BODEGA STORY:

Bodegas Don Sancho Londoño in Hormilla, (La Rioja) currently owns 900 acres of vines within the Rioja DO, in and around the town of Hormilla. Various vineyards with diverse soil types, help its wines to achieve a superior degree of flavor complexity.

The vineyards encompass the sub-regions of Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa. The combination of the two microclimates, makes wines that have three primary virtues; fruit concentration, a sensation of freshness and polished ripe tannins.
Bodegas DS Londoño has a variety of vineyards, allowing the talented and gifted David Sampedro to select from the finest grapes. Simple yet thoroughly satisfying 'easy drinking' wines for everyday consumption with intense fruit driven character, bright aromatics, supple tannins and well-balanced structure. This level of quality at this price point is virtually impossible to find in Rioja.

About David Sampedro: David's identity cannot be fully understood without an understanding of his commitment to the Graciano grape. In fact, he is most known in Spain as "el Hombre del Graciano," the Graciano man! His passion for Graciano has led David to rediscover many abandoned and unwanted Graciano vineyards from many local growers who believed that Tempranillo was the key of Rioja's success. Nothing could be further from the truth; today many iconic producers in the Rioja appellation are seeking David's "friendship" in order to gain access to the treasures he possesses. Rioja producers have come to realize that Graciano is an imperative element in the Rioja blend.
