7 Navas Selección 2007 (red)
Bodega: Garnacha Alto Alberche
Winemaker: Daniel V. Ramos
Region: Garnachas de Gredos
More than 50 years old. Granitic sandy soils between 750 and 1000 meters altitude. The grapes for 7 Navas Seleccíon are chosen from some of the more ancient Garnacha vines around Navaluenga meaning much smaller yields and greater complexity in the wine. This is a wine meant to withstand a bit of time and we are really beginning to see the results of this special selection of grapes in the first vintages produced at Garnacha Alto Alberche.
Hand picked grapes into small boxes in October. 17 days total maceration including fermentation at 28ºC. Fined, but unfiltered, so this wine will throw sediment. Please decant for it!
14% by Volume
80% used French oak and 20% American. 13 months in the barrel.
Tasting Notes, etc.:
7 Navas Seleccíon is a very expressive Garnacha with mountain herbs-rosemary, thyme, lavender, dark chocolate, toasted almands, new leather... 5 spice all jumping out of the glass. Tons of layers, with good acidity, integrated tannin, raspberries and black liquorice, white pepper and cinnamon on the palate with a really long, elegant finish. Great with gilled chops smothered in rosemary and garlic, med and hard cured cheeses, roasted chicken or turkey, grilled vegys. Very versatile wine.
